Event Moderators: Dr. Anita Mehta (Industry) and Dr. Sunshine Silver (Academics)
Dr. Anita Mehta is the CEO of Chicago Discovery Solutions LLC in Plainfield, Illinois, a company leading the effort to find Green Chemistry solutions for the pharmaceutical Industry. Dr. Mehta, an organic/medicinal chemist by training, has contributed to 24 US patents (granted) and 26 publications on novel synthesis, biological activity, metabolites, and polymorphic forms of drug molecules. She is the co-inventor of water friendly rutheno formato catalyst MCAT-53 to catalyze green manufacturing.
Dr. Sunshine Silver earned her PhD in Biochemistry from Montana State University and held a postdoctoral appointment at Argonne National Laboratory in the Solar Energy Conversion group. Dr. Silver enjoys teaching a variety of chemistry courses and performing undergraduate research on select metalloenzymes. At NPU, she serves on several committees, is the faculty advisor to the Women in STEM club, and a Co-PI on a NSF-S-STEM grant which aims to prepare undergraduate students for science careers. Dr. Silver is active in the Chicago Section of the ACS, serves as an ACS Science Coach, and is a volunteer in her community.
